So much has already been written about the Durrell family, who arrived in Corfu a few years before the outbreak of the Second World War. The excellent series based on the excellent trilogy by Gerald Durell (a less acclaimed writer, but a great naturalist), is loved all over the world.
On the island you can still see the Durrells’ first house (Whitehouse):

A movie house – named actually Possilipo from the series that can be rented,

… and a whole village – Danilia built for the film or finally – somewhere in the south of Corfu you can pass the series car – a 1930 Oldsmobile.

The series – light and enjoyable, well shot and with great music.
Embedded in this series is not only the beauty of the island, but also love stories, the clash of LGBT issues with conservative Greeks, the scandalist Henry Miller who visited Lawrence Durrel in Corfu.
In short, a beautiful story whose traces are still present in Corfu today.
