Stone walls

During a short vacation in Corfu, we took a closer look at the stone from which the walls will be built. Although the house has a concrete frame, the walls will be stone masonry. The architect says that due to potential earthquakes in the region, these are the regulations: there must be a framework of reinforced concrete.

Thick wall stone will provide a large heat capacity to protect the interiors from the summer heat. We hope for an effect like the one below – the house is located in Perithia in the north of the island.

We decided on predominantly white stone, set in thick, white-troweled grout. Like below:

The stone will most likely be from a deposit in Perithia, but it’s also possible that it will come from nearby Albania. Technically, it is limestone.

When redrawn brightly, the building has gained in lightness. However, the green color of the shutters is questionable. There will be a wall, we will think about what to do next.
