Construction Progress: Roof, Walls, and Pool Support #week 78

It looks like the work has finally started on its way. Since mid-April, four teams have been working on the site: masons, concrete workers, carpenters and Dmitris the excavator.

All the timber for the roof has been delivered and the ridge has appeared on the roof. At this stage, the roof will be covered with a temporary membrane. The tiles will have to wait until the stonemasons get to the parapet.

Several dump trucks of stones have been brought in. The walls are insulated with roofing felt and each stone has to be worked with a hammer. We also have a sample of what the future wall will look like. The construction of the walls is expected to take two months.

Concrete workers will be pouring another structure supporting the pool any day now. What you can see is not even the foundations of the pool: it is the substructure of the second support floor. The good news is that the edges of the pool will be at the height of the floor, which will provide a beautiful view, and the old olive tree will partially shade the basin.

Dmitris has already partially covered the house on the hill side. The access came out quite wide, the only worries for today are the steep downhill and the narrow turning area. Here something will have to be worked out.
